This course explores contemporary assessment and evaluation strategies designed to enhance student learning and engagement. Participants will gain insights into formative and summative assessment methods, digital tools for assessment, and effective feedback techniques that promote continuous improvement in the classroom.
Objectives:
- Understand Modern Assessment Methods: Familiarise participants with various assessment types, including formative, summative, peer, and self-assessment.
- Implement Effective Feedback Mechanisms: Learn how to provide constructive feedback that supports student learning and development.
- Utilise Digital Tools: Explore digital platforms and tools that facilitate assessment and evaluation processes.
- Enhance Student Engagement: Discover strategies to make assessment an integral part of the learning experience, promoting student motivation and ownership of learning.
- Design Inclusive Assessments: Develop skills to create assessments that accommodate diverse learning needs and styles.
Course Modules:
- Module 1: Introduction to Assessment and Evaluation. Overview of traditional vs. modern assessment methods. Importance of assessment in learning.
- Module 2: Formative Assessment Techniques. Strategies for ongoing assessment during the learning process. Tools for real-time feedback (e.g., quizzes, polls).
- Module 3: Summative Assessment Strategies. Designing effective final assessments and projects. Aligning assessments with learning outcomes.
- Module 4: Feedback Mechanisms. Principles of effective feedback. Methods for providing constructive criticism and encouragement.
- Module 5: Digital Assessment Tools. Introduction to platforms like Google Forms, Kahoot!, and Edmodo. Using learning management systems for assessments.
- Module 6: Inclusive Assessment Design. Adapting assessments for diverse learners. Universal design for learning principles.
- Module 7: Peer and Self-Assessment. Techniques for fostering student-led assessment. Benefits of self-reflection in the learning process.
- Module 8: Evaluating Assessment Effectiveness. Analysing the impact of assessments on student learning. Continuous improvement of assessment practices.

Important information for all courses
Schedule: Lessons take place either in the morning or in the afternoon depending on the trainers’ availability. The final schedule will be provided no later than 2 weeks prior to the participants’ arrival. The course provider may make minor last minute changes to the schedule and content if the situation requires it.
Equipment: Participants may be required to bring their own laptop or a tablet, depending on the course.
Course Fee: 400 € per participant for a 5-day course. Accommodation is not included with the fee, however, we are happy to provide recommendations and support you finding hotels, B&Bs, and local properties.
Certificate: Participants must attend at least 80 % of the lessons to obtain the Certificate of Attendance at the end of the course.
Cultural activities: A guided walking tour is a part of each course.
Cancellation Policy: If the participant cancels the course more than 30 days before the course starts, all fees will be refunded.
If the participant cancels the course between 30 and 7 days before the course starts, they will be refunded in the form of a voucher to be used for future courses.
The course is non-refundable If the participant cancels 7 days before the course start date.
This course requires a minimum of four participants. In the unlikely event of not reaching four participants, do not worry, you will have the chance to join an alternative course on the exact same dates.
