DESIGNING USER-FRIENDLY AND ACCESSIBLE WEB PAGES
This course is designed specifically for educators who want to improve their web pages for better usability, accessibility and visual design. Whether creating class websites, lesson resources or student portals, this course will teach you how to make your digital spaces more intuitive, inclusive (according to EU accessibility standards) and visually engaging for diverse audiences.
Through a combination of interactive lessons, practical exercises, and real-world examples, you’ll gain an understanding of user–centered design principles, accessibility standards (like WCAG), and effective User Interface practices.
Objectives:
- Understand usability principles and accessibility standards for web design.
- Learn to structure and present content clearly and effectively, according to users’ needs.
- Apply best practices for creating inclusive and accessible digital spaces.
- Develop visually appealing and functional interfaces.
- Collect real examples and resources to improve your web pages.
Course Modules:
- Module 1: Foundations of usability and accessibility. Simplicity, consistency and clarity. And the importance of inclusivity for diverse learners and users.
- Module 2: Designing for users’ needs. Information architecture: Structuring content for clarity and navigation ease.
- Module 3: User Interface principles: Typography, colours, contrast, spacing and best practices in accessibility.
- Module 4: Real example practice. Create a usable, inclusive mock web page.
- Module 5: Resources: where to find them and how to use them.

Important information for all courses
Schedule: Lessons take place either in the morning or in the afternoon depending on the trainers’ availability. The final schedule will be provided no later than 2 weeks prior to the participants’ arrival. The course provider may make minor last minute changes to the schedule and content if the situation requires it.
Equipment: Participants may be required to bring their own laptop or a tablet, depending on the course.
Course Fee: 400 € per participant for a 5-day course. Accommodation is not included with the fee, however, we are happy to provide recommendations and support you finding hotels, B&Bs, and local properties.
Certificate: Participants must attend at least 80 % of the lessons to obtain the Certificate of Attendance at the end of the course.
Cultural activities: A guided walking tour is a part of each course.
Cancellation Policy: If the participant cancels the course more than 30 days before the course starts, all fees will be refunded.
If the participant cancels the course between 30 and 7 days before the course starts, they will be refunded in the form of a voucher to be used for future courses.
The course is non-refundable If the participant cancels 7 days before the course start date.
This course requires a minimum of four participants. In the unlikely event of not reaching four participants, do not worry, you will have the chance to join an alternative course on the exact same dates.
